To assist the user there is a visual presentation that can be accessed from the application itself showing the key points of operation.
Doodle Mate was developed from the need to provide a computer-based means of quickly recalling everyday life events in a truly user-friendly manner. For example, visits to doctor/dentist, your last holiday,children and pets growing up, what politicians promised at the last election - to name a few!
On this basis a new concept in search functions was developed that, instead of returning word references, returns complete lines that contain key words for user perusal and selection. Doodle Mate searching does not "know" the meaning of "Find Next" when searching - all line references up to 2000 are presented in date sequence subsequent to a particular search.
Doodle Mate goes much further than simply retrieving text data. Doodle Mate was further developed to provide for ‘drop in' images, word documents, excel spreadsheets, PDF documents, power point presentations, video and sound files for every day from 1st January 1900 to 31st December 2999!
With the data side of Doodle Mate taken care of, Doodle Mate needed a bit of personality - a chiming clock was added with user selection of Roman or conventional numerals. The clock provides the option for conventional chimes, a cuckoo sound, and time pips or a true representation of ship's watch bells.
For further bonding with the user, an MP3 player was integrated into Doodle Mate. The MP3 player not only features random play, range play, selected track play and track dragging, but an option for "human voice" time announcements on the quarter hour. The MP3 player is also linked to Doodle Mate alarm functions so that the user can wake to their favorite music!
The alarm sounds in Doodle Mate provide for conventional bell sounds, however to be different Doodle Mate can wake the user to the sound of being "down on the farm", a "bird chorus", ‘frighten' the user with an "air raid" or sooth with "marine sounds"! The user can drop in their own sounds as well.
To top it all off Doodle Mate provides Stop Watch and Timer functions with simple mouse drag time settings (not seen in other applications), conversion tables, a searchable alphabetic record, a moon phase indicator, quote of the week and more.
